TREE SALE
On Nov. 19th, we will be selling trees we have grafted during the past two years' work shops. Approximately 75 trees will be available. There are about 50 apple trees in 5 varieties on several different root stock. Also 25 peach, cherry, plum and apricot (and combinations thereof) on peach root stock, and several natural dwarfing cherries. We also have a number of thornless blackberries available.
Prices:
Trees to be planted in Clifton will be $5 each. Trees going outside of the neighborhood will be $15. If you helped with a grafting workshop your first tree is free and additional trees $5.
All proceeds go to purchase of more root stock and Orchard Project expenses. Trees are sold on first come first serve basis. We reserve the right to limit number of trees purchased to insure that all who want one can get one. For inquiries call David Coyte @ 632-2545 or email david@newdevonia.org

Saturday the Orchard Project set up a booth at the Mighty Kindness Hootenany at the Louisville Nature Center. There were storms predicted but that didn't deter us,though I was a bit concerned about the impact on turnout.

We had a great first meeting of the year yesterday. There was a good turn out with quite a few new faces.
Unfortunately Jennifer was unable to give the planed class on community food systems due to a family emergency. Are thoughts and prayers go out to her and her family.
David Coyte filled in with a impromptu discussion on the need to build stronger local food system. Then the group took a walk to visit some of the trees we will be maintaining this year.…

With warm weather this week it feels like Spring is already with us. Hopefully the trees will wait until the Frost has past before breaking bud.
We will have our Season Opener on Saturday the 26th, 10:00 AM, at the Clifton Center. This will be a fun event where you will get to meet our four new interns, our Project Manager, and our new Webmaster. With all this help we have really expanded our goals for the year. We…
